Alexander Young, 49, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 12, after Greenwich police observed him traveling on Post Road in the area of the Cos Cob Firehouse on E. Putnam Avenue at a high rate of speed, said the Greenwich Police.

The vehicle was clocked at reaching speeds of 55 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone, police said.

After stopping the vehicle, officers determined that Young, who had bloodshot, glassy eyes, and smelled of alcohol, was under the influence. He was asked to take a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed to perform to standard, police added.

A breath test later revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.145.

He was charged with DUI and traveling too fast. Following booking, he was released on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 28.
